Mrs.O's Hacks

This blog is all about cleaning hacks! Below are five cleaning hacks that we have found helpful in our cleaning adventures.

Shower Squeegee - CALLING ALL PET OWNERS -this one is for you! This is best for area rugs, but could be used on a section of carpet too. Run the squeegee over the carpet starting in one corner. It works like a charm. We can’t quite remember where we first heard about this one, but it has been a lifesaver.

Baking Soda and White Vinegar - this duo is great for stoves and ovens. Sprinkle baking soda on the tough spots and pour on the vinegar. We let it sit for a little bit after it stops reacting. We use a little plastic scraper to scrape off the concoction and usually grease and gunk come with it. Sometimes it is worth it to repeat once or twice as necessary.

Olive Oil - this is great on stainless steel appliances. With a paper towel using a quarter size amount of Olive Oil apply to stainless steel. We find that a small circular pattern works really well on bigger appliances ie: fridges, dishwashers.

Toilet Brush - when you clean your toilet, instead of plopping your toilet brush right back into the holder put the handle between the rim and the seat so it can dry before you put it back. This will prevent bacteria and mold from growing inside the holder, and keep it cleaner.

Qtips - these are ideal for cleaning tv remotes, video game controllers, your oven/ stove dials, light switches etc.
